Ferg’s Blueair #2: “Janet Moir manages to walk the difficult tightrope of being a bitch and a cunt.’ – Brooker

“…The point of my column-which, I wonder how many of the people complaining have fully read – was to suggest that, in my honest opinion, his death raises many unanswered questions,” she said.

“In what is clearly a heavily orchestrated internet campaign I think it is mischievous in the extreme to suggest that my article has homophobic and bigoted undertones.”

Janet Moir, a Daily Mail journalist, published a column today which questioned our interpretation of the death of Boyzone singer Stephen Gately, who died this week aged 33. She then had the nerve to issue the statement above.

C-U-N-T.

The Daily Mail is hardly known for its tolerant attitude, granted, but when Marks and Spencers sit back and go “erm, sorry, could you remove the advert near that column? We’d prefer to have bricks on fire thrown at us” (OK, I’m paraphrasing) then you know something’s wrong.

I have read the article. It’s offensive, judgmental and ridiculous. The second paragraph sets the tone:

“Through the recent travails and sad ends of Michael Jackson, Heath Ledger and many others, fans know to expect the unexpected of their heroes – particularly if those idols live a life that is shadowed by dark appetites or fractured by private vice.”

Since when does homosexuality come under private vice or dark appetites? Moreover, how does Heath Ledger’s death count as private vice? He accidentally OD’d on sleeping pills prescribed because his prep for the performance as the Joker fucked him up so much.

The article is as hate filled as you’d expect from the Daily Hate, and as misinformed: perfectly healthy footballers have died of heart attacks (Marc Vivien-Foé comes to mind), and they’re the fittest people about. So why is this suspicious? Because he’s gay? Imagine if this had been Sir Cunt Richard, the Daily Mail would have held him up as a pariah of goodness, in spite of the gay rumours (see, that’s responsible reporting, I defame his name but don’t outright damn him because he might have made a lifestyle choice. I just hate his music and his smug bastard face).

The woman should be left out to dry.

And by that, I mean publicly hung.

In Brighton.
